Earnest E. Tate, Pastor Peace Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53218

I believe in walking the talk and I joyfully serves the Lord. Most of my work at Peace Lutheran Church is in the trenches. People come here needing services related to housing, medical issues, lack of language skills and lack of educational opportunities."

In addition to walking the talk, I talk the walk as well. I love Biblical preaching. I received a reservoir of practical knowledge pertaining to biblical preaching at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. In the doctoral program at Luther, the constructive verbal and written response to each sermon from professors, classmates and my parish response group was a catalyst for my enthusiasm."

My studies at Luther Seminary helped me to ground the problems and temptations faced by members of Peace congregation: "We read a lot about injustices, about the past. We must decide what is just. What is right in the eyes of God is just. People need to be reminded that the God of the past is the same God as today." I believe that my gift in preaching is the key to sending that message.

My main objectives are to preach the Gospel, teach the unadulterated scripture, and administer the sacrament of Holy Communion. As part of my mission, I am working to assist the church, state, and government agencies in our effort to provide spiritual guidance to the community. I am also journeying with the people of the New Haven Community promoting affordable housing as defined by the community and not government, grants for low and middle income people to make improvements on their property, more structural after school program for our children, and work force programs for all and not a remnant of the community.
